…As he finished speaking, Peni reached for his knife and, before the watchers realized what he was going to do, he slashed the razor-sharp blade across the helpless girl's throat. Her body stiffened to meet the blade and she screamed once, the scream dying in a choking gurgle.

Like an echo, her scream was answered by screams from Jan and Dawn, both ending as they fainted. Brookes was glad for them, because what followed was not pleasant to civilized eyes.

Peni slit open the girl's chest, then reached in with his hand and tore out her warm heart, the blood pulsing in slowing spurts over her body.
